Evening Star

Evening Star is built for people who live outside as much as in. The whole east wall of the great room is glass, opening onto a 14 by 38 foot deck that runs the full depth of the house. Step through the French double doors into a 19 by 22 living room that flows into the dining room and kitchen with no walls in the way. The kitchen has a long island that seats four, an L shaped counter run and a 6 by 8 walk in pantry, with a powder room nearby for guests. The primary suite takes the back corner: a 16 by 18 bedroom, a 12 by 8 walk in closet and a bath with a double vanity, a freestanding soaking tub and a second tub. Bedrooms 2 and 3 are both 14 by 12 and share a full hall bath, and the laundry has its own sink. Outside it is white board and batten over brick with cedar posts and a covered gable at the door. Good to know: no foyer, bedrooms are not split, the primary bath is reached through the closet, and there is no garage or shop.

The structure is post frame, so the load path is simple and the interior walls are mostly partitions. That matters when you want to move a wall later, and it matters when a framing crew prices the shell. 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths sit on one level.
